With over 40 years of coaching experience, the #FalconFootballFamily adds former Del Norte head coach Leigh Cole as offensive coordinator.
After nine (9) seasons as the head coach of Del Norte High School in San Diego, CA, Coach Cole joins the Scripps Ranch High School Falcons staff. In his previous nine years as a head coach, Coach Cole's teams made the playoffs all nine years, won a league title and over the last two years moved up two divisions and went to back-to-back CIF San Diego semi-finals.
Coach Cole was also the head coach of the 2022 Alex Spanos North-South All-Star game, leading the North team to a 29-13 victory. Soon after, Coach Cole won two Dream All-American Bowl games, at Sofi Stadium (Los Angeles/Inglewood) and AT&T Stadium (Dallas, TX) over Christmas Break. He has also participated in the East-West Shrine game for 8 years.
He has served in numerous coaching positions including offensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, offensive line, quarterbacks, receivers, running backs, defensive backs and linebackers.
Coach Cole has also coached with several coaches on the #FalconFootballFamily staff, including Coach John Taylor (DC), Mark Bolt (ST Coordinator) and the departing OC, Chris Blevins. With stints at St. Augustine, Mira Mesa, and Mt. Carmel among others we have been very fortunate in landing a highly respected veteran and a great man.
As a former athlete, Cole was Times Tribune Athlete of the Year in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1981, beating out Barry Bonds and Jim Harbaugh. Cole was a three-sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball). He also played football and baseball at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before training for the 1988 US Olympic Handball Team fri 1985-1988 traveling to Brazil, Iceland, Italy, and Spain, winning three gold medals in three US Olympic Festivals from 1985-1987.
Coach Cole is married to Jill and avid football fan. They have four kids Tony (37), Jinel (37), Christian (30), and Jalen (28), and two grandchlildren, Caliyah (12) and Mekhi (8).
